Growing and learning everyday

My computer is back, so I am back in action! Bailey is now 10 weeks/ 2.5 months and is changing everyday. She has reached some new milestones/"tricks" while I have been away from blog world...

Being more into her toys and actually hitting at them.
Not quite sure if it is always on purpose but it is something new!
She loves this elephant rattle on her play mat. I even put it on her her Pack N Play when she is in it. I was in the kitchen doing dishes and heard the rattle going and ran to see what was going on since I am not used to hearing toys make noise in our house. I see her just going to town on that toy, so of course I had to take some pictures.

Then she wore herself out...

Sucking her thumb!
I picked her up from daycare this past Monday and Deanna had said that Bailey had been putting her hands in her mouth, I told her this is something she started the previous week. She had started putting her hands more in her mouth and using her paci less. So we get home and I put her in her swing so that I can get a few things done and she started crying. I let her cry for about a minute until I heard her stop and saw her doing this! She totally self soothed! I was so very excited that she learned something new. I am still on the fence about whether I want her to use the paci or her thumb, but when I can't get to her and she can solve her own problem...I am a proud mama! Plus it makes a pretty darn cute picture, in my opinion.

She has her first favorite toy/bear!
At my brother's wedding in September, Bailey got a bear/blanky toy from the bride's mom, Nancy. I have given it to her here and there and she just wasn't interested (with any toy really). The other day Wes noticed she was grabbing at it when she was in her pack n play, so I decided to give it to her in her swing too. She loves to hold it, hug it, suck on it, and chew on it. I am amazed at how excited I get over the little things she seems to be learning! Such proud parents we are!

By the way...the last two pictures of her holding in her pack n play, she grabbed it herself! She amazes me every second of every day.

Wanting to roll over!
So, I don't have any pictures of this since whenever we grab the camera, she stops! I may have a video, if I do I will post it later. She has started to get onto her side and has almost rolled over. We really think it will happen in the next couple of weeks. All she has to do is kick her leg over and she will do it. We really hope she does it when we are both home, since that is not very often...we aren't expecting it to. Oh well, we will still be just as happy and proud.

Becoming more and more social!
Uncle Spidey and Cousin Cade came over yesterday and hung out with Bailey. She is smiling at people more, "talking", and just being more playful. It is so crazy how you can just stare at someone for so long with the biggest smile on your face. Here are some pictures from the visit. She was showing Uncle Spidey what she wants to do to him when he makes fun of her feet! Watch out Uncle Spidey...she knows where you sleep!Clearly loves sucking on her hands...and even got Cousin Caden's hand too! Yum!

So that is what we have been up to the past 2 or so weeks since I last posted. Wes and I were talking last night how we are amazed at how much love one can have for someone. The love is different and so powerful. Bailey is our world and I honestly feel so complete having her in it, I know Wes feels the same way.

Happy 2 months Bailey!

Today is Bailey's 2 month Birthday! I wish I had some 2 month old pictures to put up, but since my computer that I usually put my pictures on to is at the doctor, those will have to wait. I will include some pictures from my cell phone that I have taken the past few days though.

But first, I need to update you all on our big week last week!! I went back to work on Wednesday which became easier as the day went on. I said goodbye to Bailey and cried halfway to work and then got it together. I knew she was in good hands with Wes but was so sad that our time together all day everyday was over. I then told myself that I have the month of October to work then I am off all of November, that made me feel better...it will be a long month. Thursday was easier but still got a little choked up when I had to say goodbye. It has been really nice for Wes to spend time with Bailey without me there. I have seen them connect more and become even better buddies, in just the two days they spent alone. Wes also realized that it is not always easy being with her all day. I think he now realizes the frustration when every time you go to do something, she cries and needs something. He knew it before, but now he is truly experiencing it. I am glad he fully understands now :).

Friday was her first day of daycare. When getting her ready and to daycare, I was in too much of a hurry to get sad... well until I realized I actually had to leave her there and walk to my car empty handed. The daycare lady, Deanna, is very nice and is so great with Bailey. She has the kitchen all decked out with a swing, bouncer, and pack n play for Bailey. I knew she was in good hands but when I had to kiss her goodbye and leave her there, I got so sad. I held it in until I got to my car, then lost it. I texted Wes a picture of Bailey and he said he was sad and missed her, that made me lose it even more. Wes doesn't get sad very often so when he does, it makes me more sad. I got through the day and finally got to pick her up! Deanna said that she was very easy and all the other kids were consumed by her all day. They would just watch her. She also was impressed with how strong her head was and how alert she is. She mentioned that in the 10 or so years she has been doing daycare, she is one of the easiest babies she has taken care of! That makes me feel so much better about leaving her now because I know she will be a good girl.

So Wednesday Bailey went to the doctor for her 2 month check up and shots. She weight 9 pounds 7 ounces, which was lighter than I thought she would be. She is in the 25th percentile for both weight and height. The doctor was also impressed with her head control and strength. I am so proud of Bailey, everyone keeps saying how awesome she is doing. Doctor didn't see anything wrong, so that is great news! The shots did make her super out of it and sleepy, along with a lovely fever. I took her temp and it was 100, I was so sad for her. We got it to go down and then she was back to her normal self. Wes said that he had to turn away when she was getting her shots, he sure has become a softy with her around!

Today I took Bailey out to see some family and friends and I am in awe of how great she does around different people. She was smiling and "talking" so much today. I am so thankful I have a happy and easy baby! *knock on wood*

Here are some pictures for you! I hope to get my laptop soon because I have a cute video to upload.

Cherish these moments

I am told everyday to cherish these moments with Bailey. Let me tell you, I am cherishing every minute with her since I know she will grow so fast, but also because I have to go back to work in 5 days. I look at her all day and think "what am I going to do when I don't get to spend all day with you? I am going to miss you!". Bailey is growing up so fast these days and I don't want to miss her smiles and coos while I am at work. I only have to get through 4 weeks until we have another break for a month.

Yesterday we went to dinner in Tahoe with my brother Danny's mother and father in-law. It was Bailey's first time up there so of course we got some pictures! I can't wait until she is big enough to play in the water and really enjoy it. I must also add that Wes was very proud of his outfit choice for our outing.

This week has been hard on me in terms of breastfeeding. I am beginning to dread every feeding and get frustrated when I do feed her. I am in the middle of trying to decide whether to just suck it up or primarily pump and just feed her out of a bottle. I feel like a quitter if I do end up just pumping, so it has been kind of hard on me. So for now, I am just doing both and seeing how it goes.

Bailey goes for her 2 month check up and shots on Wednesday. I am so sad I can't go but she needs to get in before she starts daycare on Friday. I will make sure I give Wes a list of questions and have him tell me every detail. How am I going to focus on teaching when I will have my baby on my mind all day?? Not looking forward to Wednesday.

My computer is going to the computer doctor so I don't know when I will post next, hopefully I get it back soon. I will leave this post with some pictures from this week...Bailey Victoria at 7 weeks.

Talkin' and a movin'

Another video of Bailey this morning. She loves to just hang out in her Pack N Play and entertain herself. She is pretty awesome!

Finding her voice

Bailey has been talking up a storm this morning but of course when I go to tape it, she gets a bit shy! I love hearing her trying to figure out her voice! :)

All smiles at 6 weeks

Bailey Victoria is now 6 weeks! She is amazing me everyday at how fast she is growing and learning. Bailey's smiles have gone from those smiles she gets when she has gas to true smiles. She smiles at me a lot when I change her and when we play. Daddy even got a smile today and I know it melts his heart just as much as it melts mine. She is starting to explore with her hands by grabbing at her blanket, ears, or just playing with them. Right now sitting here doing the blog she is sitting in her Boppy pillow on the couch and not sliding down like she used to. It's so neat to watch her check everything out and actually be able to focus on it. I make sure to always have my camera near by just in case she does something new...something I won't be able to do when I go back to work in two weeks.

O.K. Maybe that was a big excessive on the pictures but I couldn't help it...she is just so dang cute!

Well a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders...daycare. We have committed to a lady who watches about 6 or less kids at her home. Wes and I went over to the house and met with her last week and we really liked her, she seems to know what she is doing...always a good thing. Her house is small but cute and very dedicated to kids. The backyard has swings, cars, and a really cool treehouse (all of which Bailey is way too young for). Bailey will go to her on Mondays and Fridays while Wes will be home with her on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Thank goodness we only need two days because I don't know how we would afford a full week! This lady is also very flexible with my breaks that I take since I am year round. Now I have room to stress about something else...if it's not one thing, it's another.

Here is a picture of Bailey wearing the hat that matches the blanket my Aunt made for her.

And this one just cracks me up...

One month and counting...

Bailey has hit the one month mark! I swear she is growing so quickly. She has been sleeping and eating so much lately so I figured it was a growth spurt. I am pretty sure I was right since when she woke up today she was smiling and talking a lot more. She is becoming so much more aware of her surroundings, it's really cool. When we put her in her Pack N Play she is able to just hang out by herself while looking around and making noises, she is becoming a little more independent already! Seeing this growth makes me so sad I have to go back to work in 3 weeks. She is even almost out of her newborn clothes...she is wearing some newborns and some 0-3 months. I am excited though because she has some really cute 0-3 month old clothes!!

This past weekend my brother got married in Petaluma, which is in northern California. It was such a nice wedding and great weekend. I must admit, it was a bit stressful since it was Bailey's first overnight/weekend trip away from home, but we survived. I feel like I couldn't completely relax and enjoy because we were still trying to figure it all out, but it was good practice for the next trip! I am a bit nervous for longer trips because I already pack too much for myself, poor Bailey will have her whole room packed up! When I was packing for the wedding, Wes commented on how we needed to take the crib too...funny guy.

While getting ready for the wedding, I was running a bit behind and asked Wes to give Bailey her first bottle...she took it like a champ!

Happy 4 weeks Bailey Victoria

Today marks 4 weeks to the day that little Bailey was born!

She clearly looks excited about being 4 weeks old :)

Not much has happened this week, which has been kind of nice. We have just been able to relax and enjoy Bailey. Unfortunately she was a bit fussy for 2 days and I thought my days with an easy baby were over. She is back to herself now so I think it might have been the yummy enchiladas we had for dinner one night....guess I have to give those up for now. We are in the process of getting ready for my brothers wedding weekend in Petaluma, CA. I am excited to see family and friends but also a bit nervous to travel with Bailey so soon. I am sure it will all work out but can't help feeling a bit stressed about the whole ordeal. Wish us luck!

Our new favorite activity...

Wes getting Bailey strapped in for our nightly walk

She looks a bit uncomfortable but she actually seems to really like our walks just as much as we do.

Our walks not only get us out of the house as a family but it is a time for Wes and I to enjoy each other without having to completely tend to Bailey. I find the walks very refreshing and they always put me in a good mood. I am not excited for it to be cold and snowy because that means no walks for us :(. So we will enjoy the nice weather while we can.

Here is Bailey practicing being on her tummy...

And one last picture of our baby girl...

As you can see I have had fun today playing with some of my pictures. Bailey is swinging soundly in her swing so I got a few extra minutes to play around.
