DIY Closet Dividers

I saw some dividers used to sort baby clothes according to sizes and thought that since I was happy with the way Bailey's letters came out, I was capable of doing these as well. I wanted to use wooden door hangers but both craft stores I went to didn't have any, so I had to get creative. Here is how they came out.

Here are the materials I gathered to do my project. I ended up not using the polka dot ribbon though, you will understand why when you see the finished product. I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do with these, I just bought stuff I thought was cute and went with the room, then started to paint and see where it went.

This is where I got stuck and put it away for about 2 weeks. I couldn't decide what to do since there was sooo much white. I didn't want to overload them with butterflies, flowers, leaves, etc. so I decided to add a few polka dots (well...maybe a little more than a few). The sizes in the stencil form were bothering me too so I decided to fill them in so they were solid. Last thing I did was hot glue the ribbons so I could hang them. I ran out of ribbon for one, so I need to still get that for the project can be complete and I can hang them all. I am pretty happy with how they came out, considering how frustrated and stumped I got with what I wanted to do with them.

After adding the polka dots, I felt much better with the final product. I think polka dots make everything better! :) The numbers still bother me, but hey...these were made with love for Bailey! I think she would be proud of her mommy.

L.A. baby shower

This past weekend was my baby shower back home in L.A. My best friend Jen (aka Jen Jen or soon to be Auntie Jen Jen) threw the shower at her condo. We had it in her community room which was a perfect place to have it!

When I walked in and saw the Baby Shower sign and the pink table cloths, I definitely got teary eyed. It was a very surreal moment for me, that the baby shower was actually for me. We had a great turn out of family and friends from all chapters of my life. The farthest traveler was my godmother Aunt Regina who came in from Denver! It was a very nice afternoon and I am thankful for all the people who came to share in this wonderful celebration! I am including some pictures I got on my camera. There are more pictures out there that I will post later when I get them from some people:). Enjoy!
Jen finishing up getting ready for everyone to arrive. Great job Jen Jen!!

The great party favors Jen made!

Best friends since 3rd grade!! Me and Kelly

Those are just a few pictures from the great afternoon, I will post more as I get them!

Later that night we had a little reunion with the friends I did sports medicine with in high school. We became a close group during those 2 years of high school since we spent a great amount of time together in class and outside of school at sporting events. It has been over 7 years since I have seen them, maybe even 9 for a couple of them!

Little survey I found

So I found this little survey on another person's blog so I thought I would add it to my blog today.

How far along? :
29 weeks!

Total weight gain/loss:
Honestly not sure of the number but if it was a concern, my doctor would tell me since she is strict about that.

How big is baby?:
According to a baby website....Bailey is about 2 1/2 pounds and a bit over 15 inches from head to heel.

Maternity clothes?:
For the most part, yes.

Sleep:
It depends on how late I eat dinner and what I eat. I have learned to eat earlier so I am not in pain when I go to bed. I am still able to get somewhat comfortable though, so that is good.

Best moment this week:
Having the doctor tell me I am getting up there! Also every time I feel her move a lot.

Movement:
Yea she has gone from kicks to more rolling, moving around, and pushing out. Doctor says that is completely normal :) I love watching my belly roll from all her movement.

Food cravings:
Not really actually, but if I do hear something that sounds yummy, I HAVE to have it right then. I still can't stand the thought of a homemade hamburger, steak, or salmon. ICK!

Belly Button in or out?:
Flat and outie by the the end of the day. Wes commented today "your belly button is poking out" when I was sitting at the doctors office. So I guess sometimes it is noticeable through my shirt. YIKES!

Milestones:
Being in 3rd trimester and going from seeing the doctor every 4 weeks to every 2 weeks now.

New Pregnancy Symptom:
Noticing I get little pins and needles in my feet now when I sit with my legs crossed or sit for too long.

What I am looking forward to:
My last ultrasound in 2 weeks!

Baby girl Williams' name!

So we have held out on telling the world her name, but I feel it is time since so many people have asked and I am tired of keeping it a secret! Wes and I had a very hard time with girls names in the beginning because we really couldn't agree on anything. It was Valentine's Day (also the anniversary of when he asked me to marry him) and we were watching TV while I shouted out names to him from a baby name book and online. Most of them made us laugh, until I shouted out Bailey. We both were like "Hey, I really like that one!" And Wes pretty much said it was settled, her name would be Bailey if it was a girl (this was before we knew the gender). So Bailey isn't a family name or anything, just a name from a book that we both really liked. I told him we should keep looking but every time I said a name he would, "Nope, her name is Bailey." So now instead of calling her baby we can call her Bailey :).

As for the letters, I bought plain wood letters at the craft store, along with the paint. I figured it would be a quick easy job. Well, that quick easy job turned into about a 5 hour job that left my shoulders so tight! I am pretty impressed with how they turned out, seeing how I don't have much creativity in me. I definitely didn't get my mom's gene with that one. Wes put the letters on the back side of the crib for the effect, but we are going to put them up on the wall above her crib.

I am now in the process of making closet dividers to sort the different baby clothe sizes, I will post those one they are finished. I also went to the store today to buy yarn and a crocheting needle to make a baby blanket. I know how to make a simple blanket but have been watching You Tube videos to help give me different pattern ideas. I have never actually finished a blanket, so lets hope I can get this one finished before she is 16.

My belly makes me laugh, so I had Wes take a picture of it. :)

27 weeks 3 days :)

So I survived this week without any pain in the kidney area! Now I just have heartburn and a hard time sleeping. I will take that over the kidney pain any day. Not too much to update on, just getting very excited for my shower in L.A. in May and getting the rest of the baby room ready. I was thinking today that I have 6 weeks left of school this year, then it will be 6 weeks more until the baby's due date. Time is flying by!! My sister Ali-Sun sent a fitness ball to use during pregnancy, labor, and after baby comes. I am excited to find some neat things to do with it. :) Thanks sis! With the weather finally warming up and me feeling better, I am hoping Wes and I can start walking more at night. It is hard to motivate myself after standing on my feet all day. So wish us luck with that one.

Baby girl has been very active lately and I feel like she is getting much bigger. I know it is still early but it feels like things are getting a bit small in there for her since I am constantly feel her moving around. It is a wonderful feeling and always puts a smile on my face. I can be so mad at my students and then feel her move and remember that I have such a special girl inside me right now and there is no reason to be upset anymore. I feel really blessed! My favorite time of day is when I lay down to go to bed because I know she will always be moving at that time, it is like a bonding time for us and I always look forward to it. I also played some music for her the other day for the first time. I think she liked it because she went from no movement to lots of moving around (or maybe she was trying to tell me to shut it up!).
So Sunday is Mother's Day and even though I am not a true mother yet, this is the first time in 15 years that I am not dreading the day. I am excited that instead of spending that day missing my mom, I can now celebrate that I will be a mother myself real soon!

So here is a picture Wes took of me today after work...27 weeks 3 days! We have 88
days left until due date of Aug 3rd. YAY!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers!!

Our trip to Labor & Delivery

So it has been a long week for us. Sunday I started having excruciating pain in my back on the left side in the afternoon through when it was time for bed. Ended up able to sleep for about two hours then woke up to more pain, which led us to calling the doctors office in the middle of the night. They told us to only go to ER if I had a fever, so I put in for a sub and tried to go back to sleep...with no luck. I ended up not able to handle the pain and the throwing up every hour from the pain, so we went to ER about 9:00am. Once we get there the lady asks how far along I am, I told her almost 26 weeks, she made a phone call and said "You need to go to Labor & Delivery". Hearing these words freaked me out! We proceeded up to where we will be going in the summer when our little girl decides to join us, and they got me in a room right away. They could tell I was pretty dehydrated so they hooked me up to an IV and gave me something for the pain (which wore off pretty quickly). I freaked out when they put the IV in because I saw blood, I am such a wuss.

My OBGYN happened to come in to see me at the time the meds wore off and I was in my worst pain yet, which made it hard to explain things to her. Nurse came in with morphine and I was a happy camper for the most part. This is when Wes decided it was safe to run down to get lunch in the cafeteria (he was practicing for when we are there in Aug.). At this point they said I had no infection and I got an ultrasound to see if I had a stone, which they didn't find one. We were there for hours longer watching tv while we both tried to snooze a little while waiting to hear what was going on. Wes was a trooper through it all.

About 7 hours after we arrived, my OBGYN said we could go, sent us off with pain meds and antibiotics (in case an infection does occur), and with no real answer. I was fine at work the next day but had to leave early Wed which led me to taking Thursday off too. I saw an urologist on Friday and she is thinking kidney stones too, but since I am pregnant they can't do x-rays or a CT scan. So here we are now, hoping it passes so I can stop worrying about the pain coming back while I am working.

I am almost 27 weeks and will soon be in the 3rd trimester! I can't believe how quickly this is going! Sleeping, breathing, bending, and getting in and out of bed are suddenly getting harder and harder. I am starting to dread this summer with the heat and the fact I will be like a beached whale trying to get out of our bed.
I will post a picture of the belly this week when I turn 27 weeks!
