...she continues to amaze us...

Tomorrow was supposed to be our C-Section but since Bailey decided to make her mom and dad happy and turn, we canceled it! YAY! I may actually be deliver the way that I have wanted. So now it is up to Bailey when she comes, because she clearly does not like to be forced into a schedule. We are so excited she turned since we thought for sure her staying breech was a done deal. The doctor was even pretty shocked that she turned! She asked us if I wanted to be induced at 40 weeks 1 day just to make sure she doesn't turn again, but we said no...let Bailey decide when she wants to come. Our doctor DID say that after 41 weeks she usually schedules to induce for safety reasons, I have a feeling Bailey won't make us have to go that route.

After we got the great news at the doctors we went to Pete's house to have dinner since my sister just got to town. Feels so nice to have so much support these days! Ali-Sun and I took a nice long walk after dinner which was refreshing, I was hoping it would help Bailey come...no luck yet. While on our walk, Pete and Wes put in the car seat, now they just have to get it checked. Notice I said they... I have enough to think about and get ready, so the boys can be in charge of that. :) That's what big brothers and husbands are for.
Tonight Wes and I went to a nice dinner, kind of a last date before the baby comes type of thing. It was nice to splurge a little and spend some time together, of course all we could think or talk about was the quickly approaching arrival of our little one. Wes took a picture of me before we left for dinner. This is the same dress I wore for my L.A. shower and my belly is definitely a lot bigger than it was then. The first week of school actually wasn't too bad! Monday kicked my butt since we were expecting a "honeymoon" stage and got the complete opposite. We have about 41 first graders in our class and a handful of high needs ones, so it is a bit noisier than we had anticipated. They seem to already be getting used to the rules and routines of our class though, which makes our job a little easier.

Let's cross our fingers Bailey makes her appearance very soon, like this weekend! She is due Tuesday but I would really like to meet her right now!

Any bets on when she is join us?

Last week of pregnancy!

Here I am entering my last week of pregnancy and I think we are pretty much ready, as ready as we will ever be I guess. I even got a hair cut yesterday so that it is easier to deal with, and for the fact I probably won't get in to cut it anytime soon...so I went much shorter than usual. We have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday to see how things are progressing, as well as if Bailey is still breech. If she is still breech, we will be having her via C-section on Friday the 30th at 7:30 a.m. I still have hope she will turn around before then. The moon is full so anything is possible! I may just go do a dance under the full moon to get her moving...turned around and out to grace us with her presence.

My sister is coming on Tuesday and I am sooo excited! It makes everything so much more real. It will be very nice to get to spend the last days of pregnancy and first days of motherhood with her.

I start back at work tomorrow and I need to get my head in the game, it is obviously elsewhere at the moment. I am going to be so exhausted everyday after work, so I racked up my sleeping hours today to prepare myself. Today was the last day that I had the house to myself and relax and I honestly did not get much done (I had a lot planned), but I did get much needed sleep! I will try and update after appointment on Tuesday to see if the C-section is still a go.

It's going to be a very intense and crazy week!!! Wish us luck!

Love makes you do some crazy things!

If you know Wes pretty well, you know he HATES feet! He is completely grossed out by feet and WILL NOT go near them. The other night I told him that I needed to paint my toe nails since my old paint was chipping off and looked bad. So, he said he would paint them for me because he knows I had such a hard time last time I painted them myself. In preparation for this memorable event, I scrubbed my feet and even used the ped egg on the bottoms so it would be less disgusting for him. I said he could also pick out the color since he was painting them (and I thought it took woman longer to make a decision like that).

I was very shocked that the first thing he did was grab my foot, I figured he would make me leave it on the chair while trying his best not to touch me. For being a man and his first time, I think he did a pretty good job (and he seemed very proud of himself). I was also impressed that he never once commented on how gross this job was or complained about having to touch my feet.

I have PROOF that he sure does love his very pregnant wife! I have learned something from teaching, and that is, documentation is a must! So I am sorry in advance for the over kill of the pictures, this was a big step for Wes since he got over one of his fears (well at least for the night) and I had to record every moment of it.

Wes getting started...

He was amazed at how a little nail polish goes a long ways...

Very focused on getting it done right... Tucker is confused at what is going on with his dad, he MUST be crazy if he is touching my feet AND painting my nails!

"hmmm do I need to fix this one?"...

Nope! Looks good! Nice job Wesley...

*The scratch is from my first "child" who decided he was very excited about going outside and took off on my toe, ouchie.

DIY blocks

On a pregnancy message board I participate on, a girl had posted pictures of her baby with these blocks that she bought from the internet at www.bbblocks.com. They are to help show how old the baby is in each picture. I figured it would be a cute tradition and a way to help me organize pictures of her growth.

I couldn't justify spending $40 bucks plus shipping & handling, so I figured I would spend 10 bucks on the wood blocks and do it myself with the paint I already have.

I found 2 solid blocks at the craft store but could not find a long solid one.... so I made my own with 4 pieces of wood and some hot glue.
My belly got in the way of the picture ;)

Here are the materials I used...
I bought the sharpie paint markers but after 2 attempts to write with them, I got frustrated and gave up. A mini melt down and a time out on my comfy hammock outside, I decided to try another way... use a paint brush and paint.
The blocks did not turn out how I wanted, but I can live with it. I told Wes it looked sloppy like a little kid made them and his response was, "Well, it is for a little kid"... the man makes a good point.

Here is the finished product... (well somewhat, I still have touching up to do...but I am over it right now)...because that is how far along I am :)

Wes took a few pictures of me with the blocks in Bailey's room, sorry I am looking a little haggard these days. I guess being 38 weeks pregnant, I really don't need to apologize for not looking my best.

2 weeks to go until she is due but she will most likely be here a week from Friday (the 30th)...I will update about that on Tuesday after my doctor appointment, which will probably be my last one.

3 years and counting

We celebrated our 3 year anniversary this past week by going to Tahoe and sitting on the beach and having lunch. We wanted to do something relaxing and out of Reno for the day, it was a nice day. Early August marks 5 years of us being together, seems like yesterday we met.

This picture was taken in our backyard, I was playing with the self timer...came out pretty cute. Tucker was funny he totally came in the picture and was like "what are we looking at guys?", glad he made the picture. The right hand corner is the garden area in progress, which used to be a 4 foot deep hole not too long ago.

Here are some from our day trip to Tahoe. On the way up to the lake, Wes and I were talking about how it is silly we don't go up there more than we do...it is soooo close! We also talked about how fun it would be to rent a cabin for a little bit in the summer and make it a yearly tradition, probably when Bailey is a little older and we have a little more money. I love the feeling of being up there, feels like we are in a completely different place and out of the typical daily Reno grind. Hopefully when Bailey is here we can go up there more with her so she can enjoy it. The water felt so good to walk through, wish I would have brought something to swim in!

This week has been a busy week and I have spent the last two days catching up on my rest, which apparently my body really has needed. On Thursday we went to the doctor and saw a nurse practitioner. They said I am a finger tip dilated (so about 1 cm) which is progress from the no dilation the week before, but we still have a long way to go. She also found that Bailey has decided to turn around and is now breech, and confirmed it with an ultra sound. She was head down at our ultra sound when I was 31 weeks. We are meeting with my doctor Monday morning, whom I haven't seen in a few weeks since she has been out, to discuss what that really means for the delivery. I am not wanting a C-section at all so hearing she is breech really upset me. I know it is not a huge deal to get a C-section, but the one thing that I really want is to do this as natural as possible. I have stopped worrying so much about it and been accepting that things will happen how they are supposed to. Wes thinks she may just turn around when she is ready to come out...hope he is right! I told Wes I picture her sitting with her arms and legs crossed saying "Nope I am not going ANYwhere!". She is already being defiant... ;)

Other than that, the ultrasound showed that we have a healthy little baby girl (yep still a girl!). I couldn't really see much at the angle she had the screen but Wes said he saw her hands and legs. My fluid in there is great and the nurse practitioner said she is about 6 pounds 10 oz (but that is not always accurate). It was nice to hear that she is bigger than I was when I was born (I was 4 pounds 10 oz). Yay for a healthy little girl!

Bailey's room is finished!!

Wow! What a very productive day if I must say so myself. This morning we woke up, got lunch, and went to Babies R Us...Wes would not be able to function without eating before the chaos. I was surprised at out how painless our trip to the baby store was, thanks to the list I put together before we went. We left without using a cent of our own money along with a swing, bath tub, booster/play seat, nursing cover, some small toys, a health kit, and things to wash the bottles in. There is probably more but that is all I can remember, needless to say...we did a good job and got the rest of the stuff we need (well for now at least)!

Once we got home it was time to finish the room by sweeping, mopping, and cleaning windows while Wes worked on his little garden area outside. I was pretty exhausted by this point so we rested then got back to work and hung pictures. I have learned from hanging of pictures that I should not be trusted with a tape measure. I thought I was doing such a good job too, until the pictures were clearly not the same distance apart...we got a good laugh out of that. I was having anxiety about putting up Bailey's name above her crib because the sticky tape we got, really IS sticky so any mistake would have made me crazy. I am really happy with how everything in the room came out, it doesn't seem over done and busy like other nurseries I have seen pictures of. I am sure Bailey will eventually help clutter it up if she is anything like her mommy ;). Here is an overload of pictures of her room! FINALLY! Bailey....you can come now...

Took us a bit to figure out how to put her name up until we finally agreed on this, plus it was pretty easy to do.

Here is the glider I was so adamant about buying (VERY happy with it)! I found the cute little pink flower table on sale at Kohl's, I was very excited about this purchase. The shelf on the wall was actually one I bought over a year ago and it matches the furniture pretty well.

Close up of the books on shelf. The Tale of Tom Kitten was given to me a long time ago by my dear friend Jenny L. The Squirrel Nutkin book is one that is old that was somebody's in my family a long time ago, that has just followed me through the years. The Peter Rabbit is the newest addition and is from my friend and co-teacher Brandy. These three books are special to me in some way.

Here is the changing table with mommy and daddy diaper bags on the floor next to it :).

Crib view of changing table and pictures on wall...

I got these pictures from Ebay for dirt cheap and then found a great deal on frames, I love them! Here are close ups of pictures...

Wes had to jump in...

The bookshelf (without Wes)...

A little dedication to Beatrix Potter on the bookshelf. Peter Rabbit stuffed animal is one of Wes' favorites in the room. The "B" I found on Ebay (I love Ebay if you haven't noticed) and the books Brandy found at Target on our shopping spree day...so cute!

Here is a close up of the picture above the bookshelf. Another purchase from Ebay and my favorite of the prints I got! Wes and I found this frame at the craft store, I am in love with the whole thing... works perfectly. The picture does not do this print any justice, looks great in person.

Here is Bailey's bassinet that Pam got us...love it! This will actually be in our bedroom once she comes home. I could have probably ironed the skirt but honestly, I don't think Bailey will mind that her mom is becoming a bit lazy these days.

And a cute door hanger Wes picked out when we went shopping with Pam... I think I may one day appreciate it more and use it more than little Miss Bailey ;)

That is all for now...time for bed since we are getting up and going to Tahoe for our 3rd anniversary tomorrow.

The last month!

I am now 36 weeks and feeling pretty good. This week has been somewhat productive which is nice, but my body is sure feeling it right now. We finally got the glider set up and I sat in it forever when we put it in. Now we need to finish the rest of the stuff in there, so pictures should be coming soon! I have also started packing my bag (because Wes keeps bugging me to do it). I am not quite sure what all I need to pack so it has been a slow process, I will get it done though. Since we are about 5 minutes from the hospital, it won't be the end of the world if I forget something. Tomorrow we have a doctors appointment, I am excited to see what she has to say. From here on out I see her once a week!

This morning we had a meeting with a pediatrician that two friends recommended we meet with. We REALLY like her so that is a big plus. She is the first one we met and we like her, so that makes things easy. She will also come to the hospital everyday to see Bailey after she is born until we are sent home, that was great to hear since that was important to us. They also have a great system in place on holidays, after hours, and weekends so that we don't only have ER or urgent care as our only option if something happens. I feel relieved that we have that big decision out of the way, we celebrated with breakfast at Peg's which is our go to place after our big doctor appointments. When Wes saw how close the doctors office and Peg's are to each other, which is across the parking lot, he said, "Bailey, want to go to the doctor and then get breakfast when we are done?"...it was really cute! Those two are going to have such a ball together when I am at work and they get to play at home on his days off.

Next on my never ending list....finish room, put in car seat, finish hospital bag, and get the remaining things we need before she comes. I am sure there are more but that is what is on my mind right now.

Here is me today at 36 weeks :)
(From where Wes is sitting on the couch, he says this picture looks like a pear...thanks honey)

Another highlight of my week has been seeing my friends Nicole and Richie from high school. They came up here to look for a place to live and found one! Turns out they will be next door neighbors to another friend of mine...small world this town is. So tonight they came over and Wes BBQ'd up some dinner for us, was wonderful having them over. It will be nice to have old friends in town that we get to see more often, we are excited!

Here are me and Nicole :)
